T Shirt Schipperke Med problem!

As an auntie of a niece that is just growing way too fast (and I also work closely with high schoolers), I read the entire Twilight series to see what all the hoopla was about. For the most part, it is innocent (except for Book 4, “Breaking the Dawn”–do NOT let your teenager read that one!). Although, I do not condone feeding into the whole “vampires are real…let’s feel sorry for them” mantra, I think the average teenager will NOT pick up or focus on the deeper social, spiritual, and psychological themes (which I feel are unhealthy, once grasped) throughtout the books. As I was reading, I could see most tween- and teenage girls 1) being able to relate to Bella’s feeling disconnected from her “world” and 2) being strongly drawn to the undeniably romantic and tangible relationship between Edward & Bella. Girls will be girls; even I am a sucker for a good “star-crossed lovers” tale! Meyer does this very well; the hundreds of pages in each of her books seem to fly by because the character & plot development is so natural. So, for the most part, the saga is harmless.
*Parents, Educators, Aunties, etc: for the more “sensitive” tween & teenage girls, I would recommend having a talk about: making the clear distinction between reality and fiction (vampires), discussing healthy perspectives on boys (rejection: Edward rejects Bella), inner beauty & self-esteem (Bella finds her worth in Edward), discussing rebellion (the vampires have only 1 rule that they live by), keeping secrets (Bella hides everything from her father to “protect” him), the lifelong effects of choices (it’s Bella’s choice to become a vampire), stressing it’s okay to be different but setting clear boundaries on acting on those differences (Bella would DIE to be a vampire), and about sex & intimacy (Bella & Edward don’t have sex until marriage only because it’s not physically possible–so we think)——all before they even pick up the book. All of this makes for a great, entertaining read but be not

Blender Immersion focus

I bought this used book for my son, it is in good condition. I am satisfied with the service as well. So far it sounds like a a good book, I plan on buying the series for him…

ICarly Tablecover test

I am very happy with my purchase. It allows me to track all aspects of my run. I like that I can set pace alerts, heart beat alerts, distance alerts and location alerts… all tools that allow me to train better and smarter. I haven’t used it while biking yet, but have heard it is great as well.

Apple Battery M8244GB Laptop and me

My friend lost her Kindle and found out the “new owner” was already downloading books for their new find. We called Amazon and they would not help identify the new owner though they probably knew who it was. All they would do is shut the unit down. It’s quite a bummer that they won’t assist in retrieving the lost Kindle. I assumed they would assist which they will not!

Take care of Political in Western Oppositions

It’s great for carpeting. It kicks the butt of vacuums 3 times the price. I live with 2 cats (1 with super fine hair), I have long hair myself, and a long haired boyfriend. One pass once a week picks up every bit of fur/hair and fluffs the carpet nicely. It sucks up heavy particles like small wood chips, and large floppy things like ficus tree leaves.

I have dust/particulate allergies. Wall to wall carpet and dust allergies are a bad combo. This machine keeps my carpet so dust/hair free that I don’t notice my allergies and I need no allergy meds. With my old vac, (Eureka Mighty Mite) I could vacuum 3 times a week and still sneeze.

The beater bar doesn’t get much long hair wound around it, I only pull loose the wound hairs once after I’m done vacuuming all 600 sq ft of carpeted rooms. This is a wonder to me, every other beater bar I’ve tried starts to slow down from hair windings within 2 minutes.

The exhaust port is tall, and shoots air out to the left of the body. Every vacuum (except central vacs, where the motor and exhaust are located outside the house) is gonna disturb dust with the exhaust port blowing air. This ones exhaust doesn’t interfere with cleaning while on carpeting.

On bare floors it’s a different story. The exhaust air bounces off vertical surfaces and swirls the dirt around. This vacuum kinda blows for bare floors. I use a cannister vac or a dust mop on bare floors.

It weighs about 16.5 pounds. I can lift it easily with one hand. It pushes easily across the carpet, even on the lowest setting called “bare floors”. I barely exert any effort pushing this thing around.

The cord measures approximately 24 ft 8 in. That’s long enough to be useful, not so long that I have to wrangle the cord.

It’s not quiet, but it’s tolerably noisy and lower pitched. No painful high pitched screaming whine. Unlike most other vacuums I’m not compelled to wear my Peltor ear goggles while vacuuming, and I don’t have ringing ears after I’m done. The

Happy on Server KitchenAid Bamboo Pasta

I like this so much that I’m really enjoying cleaning again. This really does the job, got turned on to this from a column by Mary Hart, something to the effect of “best purchases I made”. I find this simple to use, instructions were easy to follow and the suction makes for quick drying. I’ve cleaned carpets and upholstery and am happy with both especially because I have a dog, which I love to hate, that has a poor track record. And, the price for what I got, it’s a bargain! The last time I had carpets cleaned I paid around 500.00 and prior to that I’d been renting machines. This will pay for itself in the first year. Take care to follow instructions and clean up the machine afterwards. (Sounds like advice that Mom would’ve given!)
Enjoy

For Linux 8th Dummies watch out

I read a lot of bad reviews of this book because it was ‘hard’ to understand or because it was focused only in Fedora, well I find it very clear and somewhat geeky, if not the whole book, but…that’s what Linux’s about, at least for me. If I wanted an easy OS I’d go with windows, but I’ve been with MS for way too much time, and I’m feeling like giving a chance (one of many other chances in the past) to Linux. I got this book for like…$5, so I can’t actually complain. and basically all Linuxes will have the same core, maybe not, don’t really know but I’m sure they’ll have a lot in common. I would wonder why would the author choose Fedora instead of Ubuntu. but I guess that’ll remain unanswered. Again the book was really cheap, and I get to learn Linux, so…it’s pretty good for me. I would recommend it.

Take Animal Party now

I’ve had it for a couple of months, and it’s a really cheap little product… and works just fine. No need to spend hundreds on any other HDMI cables. I bought this one for about $3 with free shipping (and that’s all I bought). It shipped to my home within a few days and I plugged it into my laptop. It works. I barely use it though, because I just haven’t had more of a time to experiment with it. For the most part, its great!
