Details about Voyages Life and The

When Jacob Jankoswki learns of the death of both of his parents in an automobile accident, his grief renders him unable to sit for his final exams at Cornell Vet school and he hops the first train he sees out of town. Fate has intervened, however, and it turns out that the train belongs to a traveling circus, which ends up hiring him on as the show’s animal doctor. The year is 1931, jobs are scarce, and, as Jacob quickly discovers, Uncle Al, the show’s unforgiving ring master, and August rule the circus with an iron hand. Performers are treated well, but working men often go unpaid or worse, are “red lighted,” or thrown off the moving train in the dead of night. It is a brutal world, and Jacob walks its fine line between working men and performers. One day Jacob falls in love with Marlena, the show’s star attraction and the wife of homicidally paranoid schizophrenic August, and their worlds at the circus will never be the same.

This is an excellent and engrossing novel, told from the point of view of Jacob both in 1931 and today, with him at age 93 and in a nursing home, reflecting on past memories. Pull back the tent flap and step right in to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. You will yearn to be sitting in the circus train’s boxcar, curled up with a book by the light of a flickering kerosene lantern amidst the folds of big top canvas as you roll on through the night to the next town and the next big show.

I love to read, and have been doing so on mobile devices for 12 years. I have been reading on an iPhone the last couple of years, and have found it great – slick interface, easy controls, touchscreen etc., but small.

I decided to bite the bullet and move to the Kindle 2 to get a better reading experience – more screen, e-ink and so on. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The screen felt much smaller than 6″, and I didnt think it was a huge jump up from my iPhone. My biggest beef was that without any backlighting, reading in all but well lit areas requires a booklight. I was also very disappointed with the interface – the controls are very clunky. I guess I’m just spoiled with how slick the iPhone is, and so after less than 24 hours I am returning the Kindle, and considering an iPad.

DVD Music Dean Rathje deal

Bought this to go into my Canon T2i. Has no problem keeping up when recording 1080p, and allows the camera to take at least 10-15 rapid fire photos before it has to catch up.

Everything I’d hoped for when searching for a new memory card.

Highly recommended!

Wide Eyes Shut run out

I found this film to be one of the very greatest I have EVER seen. I sat there mezmerized throughout its length. The pacing is simply fantastic. It’s slow enough to keep you on the edge of your seat (yes, im serious), yet not to the point where it annoys you. It has that usual Kubrick style, and is VERY arty. Full of many shocking and startling images (not macabre or gross, merely unexpected) including the nude Nicole Kidman standing with her back to the camera a few moments into the film, juxtaposed with the simplistic opening credits. Simply a PERFECT movie. Kubrick strived hard to acheive this perfection (explaining the record setting 18 month shoot), and he certainly was successful. Seeing the film made me only miss that wonderful director all the more. He was truly one of the greatest directors in history. The film was beautiful and mystifying at times as well, obviously dream-like, yet not a sugar-coated kind. It was as if everything was very familiar, yet so bizarre at the same time. This effect made the film quite unsettling, and all the more powerful. Hats of to exquisite score, perfect for the film, including Shostakovich, Grygory Leti, and Bob Dylan, also hats off to Nicole Kidman, who gave a fantastic and underrated performance as Alice. Nicole is not one of my favorite actresses, yet this performance I found WONDERFUL, and it makes me see her as a much better actress, I hope it wasnt the performance of her career, I hope she outdoes this tour-de-force. This film is ART. Every frame is like a painting, every motion is choreography, every line of dialogue is poetry. Everyone has made this film notorious because of its sexual nature (although it really is NOT all that sexual), which makes me sad, for people don’t show enough appretiation for this fantastic swan song of Kubrick’s. This film is wonderful, see it and be amazed. After all, how can you possibly go wrong with a film whose last word of dialogue is “f**k”

Humanism Believing forever

I bought this to use between my dogs, cats and horses. It works wonderfully! Follow the instructions carefully, it really makes the shedding out process much quicker. I’d recommend this to anyone with animals that shed.

NR3007 Onkyo TX 140 the best

This is a fantastic receiver. I thought my last won was great but this is in an entirely new category. Sound is phonomenal and to watch/hear a Blue Ray through this RX astounding. But, I purchased 4 more Def Tech speakers for this; 2 each BP7004’s and 2 Mytho’s XL’s which were another $2500. Used them for front wides and front highs. Problem; you will never get front wides and high to play at the same time no matter what listening mode you use. At best you can hear one of the pairs at the same time, not both. If playing a CD or HD TV you are still only getting 5.1 or 5.2 sound. Even with that I can’t complain about the TX-NR3007 but I would not have bought both wides and highs so keep that in mind. You won’t regret this receiver.

I love for Cable USB Coiled

I purchased the Garmin Portable Friction Mount for my first use of my Nuvi 765T for a trip to Tennessee. The road was winding and at times not smooth, the mount held in place on my Toyota Highlander dashboard. The mount fit perfectly on the left side, closest to the driver window. Very easy to adjust for good viewing. I would recommend this product.

Digital GB Western 320 information

Replaced a WD 40G drive which came in my used P4 workhorse. Former drive was beginning to get “bearing noises” and had “caution” status on CrystalDiskInfo. Used Acronis to clone 40G to new 160G. No problems with transition and new drive is quiet and fast.
