This review is particularly of Nathaniel Parker’s narration, and not so much of the Artemis Fowl book itself, as there are already so many reviews on that.
If you want an auditory treat, get this audiobook – Nat Parker is a genius when it comes to bringing these characters to life. He does wonderful accents – there are multiple Irish accents for Artemis, Butler, Juliet and Angeline, but many others for the fairy people which are just amazing. In addition, his own, natural speaking /reading voice is so smooth , resonant and perfectly paced that is is a treat in itself. Unlike other audiobooks which I have listened to, you can’t hear him breathing – with some readers you hear every big breath they take and it gets irritating. He reads it perfectly and the great fun is in the rapid dialogue exchanges where he must manage different voices with different accents as well as the narrator’s voice.
The story itself, well, there are some boring and technical parts which I tried to read, and Artemis’s character is not terribly likeable, but the way Parker voices him makes you feel some affection for the character.
If you like the books, this is a worthwhile addition because of the way the characters are brought to life – and if you didn’t like the books, it’s a great listen just for Parker’s enormous vocal talent.

With some sellers offering the 305 with heart rate monitor for $150, it is really hard to beat this device. Using just the GPS and hrm (no foot pod or cadence/speed sensor) this device works well for both running and cycling outdoors.
I’m not a hardcore athlete, but I do enjoy hiking, trail running, and cycling, and the accuracy of this device more than meets my needs for tracking my pace and performance. The elevation data is pretty off, but garmin-connect does a reasonable job of correcting it after the fact.
Learning to use the features of the 305 takes a little practice. Not something I mind, but some might. The bike mount/wrist strap kit works well for juggling it between arm and bike.
I’ve looked at some of the newer devices in this nitch, and I don’t see how any of them justify their very large price gap over the forerunner 305. In fact, you will pay significantly more for some of the newer devices that do less than the 305.
I looked at the FR 310XT, and it just doesn’t do it for me, and especially not at $380 with hrm. I’m not a triathlete, and I don’t care much about waterproof. I would much rather have something like a multisport/watch version of the Edge 500, which tracks temperature and altitude, and would be much more useful for my trail running, hiking, and cycling. If Garmin ever figures this out, I would likely upgrade.

I’ve used MS Office for years but it’s my first update since 2000. It came quickly, was easy to install, and takes more understanding than the Works software that came with the new computer. It doesn’t take long to learn the basics and produce quality output.

I am a TOTAL clean freak! I have a housekeeper come clean my place one a week (just a 2 bed apartment) and I still clean ALL the time and am always buying and trying new products. You can eat off all my floors.
I just got this Hoover SteamVac from Amazon, after looking at the others and realizing that the smaller size is better for me than the larger Platinum one because I don’t have a large house and a lot of room for storage.
Well I can’t speak for the assembly because I’m totally clueless when it comes to that and I paid the maintenance man $20 in my building to put it together but it looked pretty easy.
Like I said, I’m a total clean freak and also highly, highly allergic to most pollen, trees, dust, cat dander, dogs etc. I also own the very best vacuum with a Hepa filter ($900 Miele Calisto). I noticed after I would get my carpets cleaned professionally once a month, after I vacuumed and changed my vacuum bags in my Miele they were full of fine white powder. I had no idea what this was and I realized it could ruin my vacuum’s motor. I came to the conclusion, after researching on the web, this fine white dusty powder my vacuum was sucking up and sticking to the nozzle and everything was the carpet shampoo residue when it dried.
So I got this Hoover steam Vac and used only hot water with it, and WOW tons of shampoo, white frothy residue was in the dirty water tank when I was done. I hate, hate using alot of chemicals to clean, especially because I am allergic and I was shocked to see how much powdery crap was lodged in my carpet, especially since I clean my carpets professionally once a month. My carpets are basically spotless to begin with but now I plan on doing it myself with this Hoover Steam Vac using only very hot water. Next time I might add a little of the detergent that came with it but hot water also does the job. Try adding boiling hot water to the clean water tank if you want to kill more germs and dander in the carpets. You will be very happy

This pedometer is amazing and has proven a god send for me. I am recuperating from some serious knee problems and hurt them months ago by pushing things too much and overwalking. I am in the obese category and was on a mission to loose weight. I started walking and this plus watching what I ate helped me loose 20 pounds. But I was walking over 3 miles some days and to no surprise I seriously injured my knees. This led to no activity and physical therapy. Now I am at the point where I can ease into walking again and after much research this was the pedometer I chose to help me.
I have only the highest praise for it. It is so easy to use and the instruction manual is so easy to follow as you set it up to get the best and most correct results. It has you set in your individual stride which is the length of each average step you take. This way each measurement it gives is as accurate as possible. Most important to me is the distance and this pedometer accurately reflects distance, steps, aerobic steps and calories burned. The unit is very durable and easy to attach. It has two different clips you can use. It is a life saver for me for when I go out on my walks the actual distance walked is always further than I thought. I live in a major city and what seemed to me as a pretty short walk was 1 1/4 miles. When I did a different walk the distance was 2 1/4 and I was in pain after. I know my current limitations and the pedometer helps me to be sure I never go over the distance which is my limit. And to my surprise I am walking at quite a pace for 3/4 of my steps are aerobic steps. I will continually need to be aware of how I walk with distance etc. to be sure my knee problems don’t come back and this pedometer is my most essential tool. It is accurate, very user friendly and provides readings on all things necessary to keep track of what you exert with each exercize and to monitor everything as efficiently as possible. My research certainly paid off her

The first time we used the furminator, we were hooked. Even our short haired dog had a plastic bag full of hair removed. It is the best way to remove unwanted hair from dogs and cats. I would recommend this for any cat or dog owner. Our neighbors borrow it ALL the time. For Christmas they are all getting a furminator!

Where to get s Cook KitchenAid Series
If you do a lot of slicing of vegetables in the kitchen, then you need a mandoline. This is my first one that I have gotten. It’s pretty simple and it does what it says it will. The blades are sharp, but lets be realistic, it’s not going to paper slice thin that fresh tomato. But it will completely chop a large onion in 6-7 swipes! It will shred/chop/julianne stick veggies quickly…you have to do it by hand and not use the large veggie impaling holder. Just be careful with the fingers as you get towards the end of the veggie. But not a problem if you pay attention. One thing that irritated me in the beginning was the plastic swing arm. Once I pried it off of the post, it made chopping much easier.
Yes it’s big, but again, I can chop MOUNDS of veggies in 1/4 the time.
Totally dishwasher save too.
